![]() Flipping an object in Sketchup can be useful for mirroring designs or creating symmetri. Is this the new way to flip an object I’m using the free version of Sketchup for web. Shop the Mufasu CAD store Learn how to flip an object in Sketchup with this step-by-step guide. While moving a part recently I wanted to flip it along the red axis, but the flip along choice was missing when I right clicked the mouse. ![]() Select whichever option makes the most sense for your design. A dialog box will appear asking how you want to orient the mirrored objects. In todays video, learn how to resize, rotate, and position Vray materials in your models to maximize rendering realism. ![]() Next, go to Edit > Paste Mirror or press Ctrl+M (Windows) or Cmd+M (Mac). All you have to do is using two functions copy and flip together. I haven’t used Sketchup for a couple of weeks. I just wish archicad had the "component feature that sketchup has. draw temporary reference geometry, then mirror it (scale with -1 value), thus creating the reverse angle. In SketchUp, creating a mirror image is as simple as designing the basic 3D models. I know I can just group it and copy it and mirror it, but the height of the piece may change in the future and i would rather just make the edits to one and have it update all of the copies. With a simple click, you can transform objects, components, groups, or even faces. Is there an equivalent in Archicad to creating a block in AutoCAD or a Component in sketchup? I have essentially made a pretty complex piece of millwork (made from walls, slabs, beams, etc.) that i would like to make a "component" out of so that I can multiply it, mirror it, etc. The Flip Tool in SketchUp allows you to flip, rotate, or mirror selected entities within your model. Mind you that the proportions will get a bit whacked if you want to keep a certain sizing of the parts in the newly saved "object". you wont' be able to add any parametric type parameters unless you know GDL coding but for a simple type 'block' if you will, that will only need to be stretched or 'll suffice. Remember.that this will be a dumb object. You could select all the pieces, go to "FILE>LIBRARIES AND OBJECTS>SAVE SELECTION AS>OBJECT" and reinsert it into the file.
